ALIA Albert Hall Photo Recreation

ALIA turns 80 years old this year, and to celebrate we’re doing something special!

Here’s the story: after the inaugural gathering of the Australian Institute of Librarians on 21 August in 1937, they gathered everyone who was were there and took a photo of them outside the Albert Hall in Canberra.  Here they are – the stylish founders of what we now call ALIA.

80 years later, on Friday the 23rd of June 2017, we’re asking delegates to this year’s New Librarians’ Symposium to join us in a recreation of this historic photo.

Here are the details:

Where: Meet at Albert Hall, 100 Commonwealth Avenue, Canberra (15 minute walk to the National Library of Australia)
When: 8am – 9am Friday 23rd June 2017
Dress code: Smart casual, 2017 style (modern day dress for modern day librarians, please!)

Happy birthday, ALIA! To keep the celebrations going, why not share your tribute to the people, places and things that have inspired you? Head to the ALIA 80th Tribute blog to read, comment and submit your story.
